Best poker sites

When I have some time to spare I play a bit of poker online. If you want to play you may want to play at the famous pokerroom dot com. There you can also learn the Texas Holdem poker rules. If you're more info playing at the casino you might wanna check out bwin.

Poker is a type of card game in which players bet on the value of the card combination ("hand") in their possession, by placing a bet into a central pot. The winner is the one who holds the hand with the highest value according to an established hand rankings hierarchy, or otherwise the player who remains in the hand after all others have folded (the player who makes an un-called bet), and wins this pot.

n casual play, the right to deal a hand typically rotates among the players and is marked by a token called a 'dealer' button (or "buck"). In a casino, a house dealer handles the cards for each hand, but the button (typically a white plastic disk) is rotated clockwise among the players to indicate a nominal dealer to determine the order of betting.

One or more players are usually required to make forced bets, usually either an ante or a blind bet (sometimes both). The dealer shuffles the cards, the player one chair to his right cuts, and the dealer deals the appropriate number of cards to the players one at a time. Cards may be dealt either face-up or face-down, depending on the variant of poker being played. After the initial deal, the first of what may be several betting rounds begins. Between rounds, the players' hands develop in some way, often by being dealt additional cards or replacing cards previously dealt. At the end of each round, all bets are gathered into the central pot.

At any time during a betting round, if one player bets and no opponents choose to "call" (match) the bet and instead "fold", the hand ends immediately, the bettor is awarded the pot, no cards are required to be shown, and the next hand begins. This is what makes bluffing possible. Bluffing is a primary feature of poker, one that distinguishes it from other vying games and from other games that make use of poker hand rankings.

Completed the Gmail migration

gemal.dk gmail logoI have now completed my mail migrating to Google Apps. The only domain left, since my first cut, was the my main domain, gemal.dk. This was special since it had the most aliases on it and it also had users on it. So I had to migrate those mailbox too and coordinated the migration.

First I logged into GratisDNS, which hosts the DNS information for my domains. Here I changed the MX records so that they pointed to Google Apps.

Before this I of course had created the necessary mailing lists and users in my Google Apps.

Ad: Versicherungen

Then I started to copy all my mail to Google Apps. For this I used the latest version of imapsync. The complete command was:

imapsync --host1 m00.opasia.dk --user1 gemal --passfile1 pass1 --host2 imap.gmail.com --user2 henrik@gemal.dk --passfile2 pass2 --noauthmd5 --ssl2 --syncinternaldates

This took around 2 hours. Yes I have a lot of mails. But then I was ready to go.

Nokia N95 tips and tricks

After I got the Nokia N95 I have a few tips and tricks that I like to share:

Firmware upgrade
Always start by upgrading the firmware to the latest version. Besides fixing bugs, the firmware also provides new features. In the version that I upgraded to, I got A-GPS (Assisted GPS) which cut the GPS lock-in time in half. You can upgrade the firmware by using the Nokia Software Updater.

Map loader
Use the Nokia Map Loader to download maps and voices for the GPS.
Tip: For some reason this application will fail when it start up if you're behind a proxy. You'll get an error saying "An unexpected error occurred.". This fix is to disable your proxy and try again.

Nokia PC Suite
With Nokia PC Suite, you can connect your phone to a PC and access mobile content as if the phone and the PC were one.

Mail for Exchange
If you're using Exchange for the corporate email, you should install the Mail for Exchange application. This will provide you with access to your Exchange mailbox. It also features push email. This way you dont have to check for emails. The email are pushed to your phone the second they arrive at your mailbox. Very handy. I've set it up so that it doesn't push any emails in the weekends.
Tip: The application doesn't work with the normal "TDC WAP 3G+GPRS" setting, since it uses a proxy. You have go use a non proxy setting. You can get the TDC non proxy setting by going here and choose the "internet" setting.

Other cool software
Sports Tracker from the Nokia Beta Labs
Sports Tracker is a GPS based activity tracker. Information such as speed, distance and time are automatically stored to your training diary.

Opera Mini
Even though I'm a huge Mozilla fan, I always install the Opera Mini browser in my mobile phone. You can install Opera Mini using a SMS Link.

Nokia Mobile Search
Nokia Mobile Search software gives your Nokia phone a powerful, fast way to access local information, websites, and images. It also searches for messages and other files right in your phone.

RSS Reader
Even though that it's almost impossible to find, the Nokia N95 actually has a RSS reader build in to it. You first have to use the browser to find the website that has the RSS site. Then you subscribe to the site RSS feed. Read more about tweaking the look of the RSS feeds.

Conversation
I haven't used it yet, but the Conversation application looks promising. Conversation is a messaging application that allows you to follow your conversations, organized by individual contacts. In addition, the application provides an easy way for replying to messages, and to continue the conversations.

Flickr
You can save all your pictures to your Flickr account. Remember you have to use this page to get it work. You cant use your normal Flickr username/password.

Got a new mobile phone

My new mobile phone is the Nokia N95, which is very nice. My last phone was the huge Sony Ericsson P990i. The Nokia N95 is small, fast and has got GPS build in to it. This adds yet another entry to my long phone list.

My mobile phones

Inspired by the list that Jan made I've tried to list all the mobile phones that I've used.

I started with the Nokia 3210, which is actually the only mobile phone that I bought myself. All the others have been payed by my employee.

Then I moved to one of the best phones I ever had. The Nokia 7110. The so called Matrix phone, since a modified version of it was featured in the Matrix movie.

At the same time I had the Nokia 7110 I also was playing around testing WAP with the Ericsson R320s phone. It was one of the first business phones on the marked and the one I've got was a prototype and of cause it didn't work very well.

Then I got the Nokia 7650 that had a camera. Actually it was the first Nokia phone with a camera.

When that broke I once again move to Sony Ericsson. This time with the K700i. Along with that I also had a T630 but I never really used that. Handed it off to my wife.

Then I got my current phone, Sony Ericsson P990i.

Now I'm also testing a Nokia E65 and HTC S710. Both phones miss a critical feature for me, a FM radio. I use the radio a lot when traveling so that is a key feature in my mobile phone.

Best phone conclussion: The Nokia 7110. It was a really cool phone at the time.

Og som Kenne sagde "If it does't fly with the miss's, it doesn't fly at all.

My new mobile phone is a Sony Ericsson P990i

Sony Ericsson P990iMy Sony Ericsson K700i mobile phone was dying. The internal joystick wasn't working anymore. This is one of the most common problems on these phones. Furthermore the phone sometimes rebooted when receiving a call. A nice feature if you don't want to talk to the one that's calling but not very nice in general.

So I borrowed a HP iPAQ hw6515 Mobile Messenger Pocket PC Phone. My first impression was: a nice phone with a lot of features. It had build in GPS and a full QWERT keyboard. But the more I used the phone the more I disliked it. First of all it was slow as hell. Switching from PDA mode into phone mode, when the phone rang, could take up to 5 seconds. That's a long time waiting for to be able to pick up the phone. The GPS was a bit slow on getting the initial satellite connection, but that could be due to the lack of SiFR chip. Otherwise the GPS was actually ok. I was running TomTom Navigator 6. Battery lifetime was also very short. Had to recharge the phone everyday. A feature I really missed was a build in radio. All in all not a very good phone. Windows is bad enough and Windows in phone is even worse.

After looking through the marked I decided the my new phone should be a Sony Ericsson P990i. It's a 3G phone packed with cool features. It has Wireless LAN support. So when I'm at home I connect it to my Linksys WRT54G using WPA2. It also has a radio built in, so I can listen to my favorite station, DR P1. I bought a 2GB Memory Stick PRO Duo so that I can download my favorite podcasts and listen to them when I go to Århus. I use Nimiq to download my podcasts. The user interface of the phone is UIQ 3 and it's has Symbian OS v9.1 as operating system. See more specs on the phone.

All in all a nice phone. You have to get used to the user interface, since it's very different than ordinary phones. And remember to update the phone firmware using Sony Ericsson Update Service.

New network drive

Since I bought my 320GB external harddrive I've missed a couple of features. Don't get me wrong. The 320GB Western Digital MyBook Premium is a cool product and it has worked perfectly. But since I have a laptop and a docking station, the external harddrive was attached to my docking station. That meant that when I was sitting in the living room with my laptop, I had no access to my external harddrive, because it was attached to the docking station in the office. So I started looking around for a new solution. And a network attached storage (NAS) seemed to fit my requirements.

So now I'm the happy owner of a Buffalo LinkStation Pro. It's a 320GB network attached storage drive. It has build in FTP server and is using a SATA drive. The drive is now attached to my router and it has worked perfectly. I've mapped the drives from my Windows PC and can now access the drives from anywhere.

So what happened to my other 320GB drive? I sold it to a colleague.

My new 320GB external harddrive

Western Digital MyBook PremiumI invested in a new external hard drive. The hard drive I choose was the Western Digital MyBook Premium 320GB. 320GB should be enough for a couple of years of data. I currently have around 13GB of pictures. The drive is pretty fast and doesn't make that much noise and then it looks good.

If you look carefully at the drive (photo 1, photo 2) you can see that the cover has morse code in it. The morse code has words like "innovative", "reliable", "personal", "design", and "simple in it. Super cool!

The drive also won the "Best in test" in the October 2006 issue of the Danish version of PC World.

I paid around DKK 1.100,- (Danish kroner) for the 320GB. Using the currency converter it's around $190,- which again calculates to $1.7 per GB.

For backup I use the very good and free Cobian Backup. It's a Windows program and it has all the things and features I need. It can do incremental backups, has schedules and a load of other things. And the GUI is nice and simple.

You can read more about the drive at wdmybook.com and the morse code at Wikipedia.

Banff Mountain Film Festival 2006

Tintin, Band of Brothers og Godfather

Lord of the rings DVDHvad har Tintin, Band of Brothers og Godfather tilfælles?

Super fed koncert.

To the Opera

The Copenhagen Opera House is an amazing building. We went there yesterday to see the ballet The Little Mermaid which of course is based on the Hans Christian Andersen fairytale. Life is much more than Mozilla and work...

DHL stafet 2005

Back from vacation

I'm finally 100% back from a long vacation. A vacation that meant no PC, no mail, no Mozilla, etc. Wonderful!

I finished watching season 4 of 24. I can only say: See you in season 5. Season 4 had a bit too much action compared to the other seasons. But once again, what a day for Jack Bauer!

I've also had the time to do some reading. I finished the wonderful The Name of the Rose. I watched the movie many many years ago but never read the book. Now I have and it's a really good murder mystery set in a 14th century Italian monastery.

Since I, like many others, have read The Da Vinci Code I had to read Holy Blood, Holy Grail which is the book that Dan Brown based parts of the Da Vinci Code book on. Holy Blood, Holy Grail questions many things including if Christ really did on the cross. From start to finished its filled with question and skepticism to the Christian history.

I also had the time to go to Crete. The "At a Glance" at Lonely Planet best describes Crete: Steeped in Homeric history and culture, scented by wild fennel and basil, Crete welcomes and overwhelms visitors with its wealth of myths, legends and history, a blessed and dramatic landscape, an extraordinary fusion of past and present, and an abundance of choices and experiences.

Coming back from vacation also gave me some technical problems. First my ISP gave my IP address to another customer resulting in me not being able to connect to the Internet. Then my hard drive at work uttered three blips and blow up. I had that one replaced with a fast Seagate Barracuda SATA drive. So back to reinstalling all of my applications once again.

Of course we also spend some time in our sommerhus.

Harry Potter: It's getting better and better

I've blogged about Harry Potter before and now it's time again. I just finished the fifth book Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and I have to say they are getting better and better. I'm not saying it's the best book I've read. Far from that, but considering who's the audience of the book, it's a good book.

<danish>

Simple Plan concert

Just returned from a cool cool Simple Plan concert at Vega. This band really knows how to rock. Cool songs, high energy and good atmosphere. You can listen to some of their music here. And once again, I'd won the tickets!

Been reading Kevin Mitnick stuff

Spend the last weekends reading some interesting stuff

A couple of years ago I read TakeDown which is described this way:
On Christmas Day 1995, a daring cybercriminal used a new, dangerous, and clever method to gain access to the home computer of the world's greatest computer security expert. The hero, as a matter of honor, set out to find the devious mastermind who violated his privacy and discovered that it was none other than cyberspace's Public Enemy Number One.

So now it was time to read some of the stories from the criminal himself. The first book I read, is actually the second one.
The Art of Intrusion : The Real Stories Behind the Exploits of Hackers, Intruders & Deceivers
Now, in his new book, Mitnick goes one step further, offering hair-raising stories of real-life computer break-ins-and showing how the victims could have prevented them. Mitnick's reputation within the hacker community gave him unique credibility with the perpetrators of these crimes, who freely shared their stories with him-and whose exploits Mitnick now reveals in detail for the first time.
You can read a sample chapter from here. A exciting story about how Hacking the Casinos for a Million Bucks.

Then I read the first book:
The Art of Deception: Controlling the Human Element of Security
In his bestselling The Art of Deception, Mitnick presented fictionalized case studies that illustrated how savvy computer crackers use "social engineering" to compromise even the most technically secure computer systems.
I didn't like this as much as the other. You can read the lost chapter one here.

Big spender

When you're gonna spend money you might as well spend a lot of money. We did just that. Last Autumn we bought a summer cottage. We have already spend a lot of time they. Painting, relaxing, reading... And there's not telephone or PC there. Check out the pictures.

When you buy a summer cottage and you live in central Copenhagen you gotta have a car. So we also bought a car. A really nice Renault Megane. I've also got some pictures of that too. Notice the small Mozilla Firefox sticker on the rear window.

Linuxforum 2005

Attended the LinuxForum 2005 in Copenhagen this weekend. It's the 8'th time the LinuxForum is being held. The focus is Open Source and it's the biggest open source conference in Scandinavia.

I went there on friday and saw a lot of really good technical speeches. The main reason why I went was of course to hear Tristan Nitot. Tristan Nitot is the co-founder and President of Mozilla Europe, an international affiliate of Mozilla Foundation. Tristan spoke about Gutenberg and the guerrilleros

I also had the chance to meet and talk to Tristan.
Tristan Nitot and Henrik Gemal at LinuxForum 2005 in Copenhagen

Another cool talk was Jon Maddog Hall who spoke about The Promise of Free and Open Source Software. He had some really nice one liners.

Kultur update igen

Har også fået set Købmanden i Venedig (The Merchant of Venice)
Alt går godt indtil Antionio kommer i pengenød.
No problem.

Cultural update

Even though I spend way to much time doing Mozilla stuff I still take the time to get some cultural input.
Watched A Very Long Engagement yesterday. A really really good movie. A bit long 134min but it's worth every minute.
A Very Long Engagement tells the story of a a young woman, Mathilde's relentless search for her fiancee, who has disappeared from the trenches of the Somme during World War One
ononononoff

In the more weird and experimental department I watched The Return. It's a beautiful movie but I just didn't get it. Must be one of those movies that critics and interlectuals gotta like no matter what.
In the remote Russian wilderness, two brothers face a range of new, conflicting emotions when their father--a man they only know through a single photograph--resurfaces.
ononoffoffoff

For the Danish readers:
Forleden så vi teaterstykket CampingKaleidoskop. Rigtigt godt stykke.

One of the characters in the latest Potter novel will not survive

I've blogged about Harry Potter before but this time it's something completely different:

Rowling has said that one of her characters will not survive her sixth book, but she refused to identify that character. Potter himself is safe, at least for now. Rowling has said her teenage hero will survive until the seventh and final book in the series, but has refused to say whether he will reach adulthood.

Weekend

We went to see the container vessel Albert Mærsk, which docked at Langelinie for a presentation of the vessel. We didn't enter the ship since the line simply was way too long. Albert Mærsk is 352 meters long and 44 meters wide. See the pictures of the impressive vessel.

Albert Maersk is, with an overall length of 352 metres and a breadth of 43 metres, placed among the largest container vessels in the world. Albert Maersk is at the same time one of the most modern container vessels ever built thoroughly monitored by advanced computer systems, enabling a crew of only 15 to operate the ship and all the facilities.

Scalextric GT40 Sport setI also bought myself a new tool. A Scalextric race circuit. The GT40 Sport set. More information here (in Danish) and here (in English). I've haven't had time to play with it yet though. The really cool thing about this set is that it includes the Race Management System. This include a special track that allows you to interface your PC with your Scalextric circuit. This enables you to time your laps on the race curcuit on your PC. This really rocks!

Linux-baseret settop-boks

Bagefter vil MythTV blive demonstreret.

MythTVBeskrivelsen af MythTV fra deres site er:
MythTV is a homebrew PVR project that I've been working on in my spare time. It's been under heavy development for two years, and is now quite useable and featureful.

Du kan se alle overheads her.

Troy sucks!

TroyWent to see Troy yesterday. I knew that the movie wasn't gonna be great. But I was disappointed to see that the movie was soo bad. It was boring and way to long. Orlando Bloom was acting really really bad. Brad Pitt wasn't any better. He just wasn't convincing as a leader. It seemed like he was trying to look like Mel Gibson in Braveheart. Eric Bana as Hector was good, though.

One of the "best" momets in the movie was when Paris handed over the sword of Troy to a totally random person in the crowd with the words "take good care of it, it's the sword of Troy"! What was that all about?

One star that's it. Worst movie of the year so far!

Tony Wheeler from Lonely Planet

Lonely PlanetAttended a talk by Tony Wheeler from Lonely Planet this evening. Wow... talk about traveling the world. This guy has been all over.

The talk was about how Lonely Planet was started and pictures from some of his many many travels. Lonely Planet by the way should have been called Lovely Planet but because Tony heard the lyrics from a song wrong it became Lonely Planet. You can read more about it here.

There was a lot of questions afterwards and one of them was how many countries he has visited. He answered that he has visited 117 countries. Quite amazing considering that he's been traveling most of his life. But as he said: "the more you travel the larger the world gets". I've only visisted 28 so I still have some way to go.

Operationen tager omkring 1˝ time.

Harry Potter sucks

When you're on vacation there's suddenly time to read. And read I did!

I've started with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. Everybody has been telling me that I gotta read Harry Potter. It should be soo amazing and once you started you just could put down the book.

That was not my expirience. The book was ok, but for smaller kids. Not for grownups. The story is weak and it's way to easy to read. The persons in the book lacks detailed description. Basiclly I just dont get the hype about this book.

Burning ShoreThen I read The Runaway Jury. A classic John Grisham book. It's a little confusing since it's about an entire jury, so it's jumping between the different people. Whenever I finish books like this I'm always a bit disapointed. I'm missing something. They just dont move me and I dont get as much into the books as with other books. The funny part of this book is that it's about the tocacco industry and the movie that's based on the book is about the weapon industry. Not really sure why they changed the theme so radical? But I continued with yet another John Grisham book. This time The Testament which was really good. It's a bit different than the normal John Grisham book. I normally never reads John Grisham but these two books was the only thing around when I finished Harry Potter. The by far best book I read was the last one. Burning Shore by Wilbur Smith. A really good book about two daring men, an extraordinary woman and the continent of Africa.

I also got a couple of book for my birthday so I can continue to read. Got Firmaknuseren af Jussi Adler-Olsen, which is a danish novell about terrorisme against big companies. Looks really good. The other book I got was The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown. It spent 40 weeks on the bestseller lists.

Back online!

I've been gone for quite some time now and the reason is simple. I've been traveling!

My wife and I has been backpacking the last 1½ month around in Mexico, Guatemala and Belize. And it's been great! Absolutely great!

I'll write more about my traveling when I get some pictures/etc online. So stay tuned.

Things that I already miss:
- Great and cheap food
- The sun
- Travelling

Things that I didn't miss while traveling:
- The danish weather
- Getting up in the morning and going to work
- Reading news. Why read about war, violence, etc when you're on vacation?

So I justed wanted to say that I'm back online and will try to answer most of the massive amount of emails that I got.

BTW: It's my birthday today! I'm old..... 31

Herrefrokost 4.0

And there was a lottery draw and she and a friend of hers won airlines tickes to New York and tickets to go to the Aretha Franklin concert in Radio City Music Hall. And all of this on 9/11.
Anyways ... lucky her!

Alt i alt helt kanon!

DHLJeg løb DHL-Stafet i går.

Dogville

DogvilleSaw Dogville last night. It's written and directed by Lars von Trier. Dogville is shot on a stage set with no actual buildings. Dogville is essentially a schematic diagram drawn on an extended stage and defined with an absolute minimum of set pieces. So no expessive sets or CGIs.

The beautiful fugitive, Grace (Nicole Kidman), arrives in the isolated township of Dogville on the run from a team of gangsters. With some encouragement from Tom (Paul Bettany), the self-appointed town spokesman, the little community agrees to hide her and in return, Grace agrees to work for them. However, when a search sets in, the people of Dogville demand a better deal in exchange for the risk of harbouring poor Grace and she learns the hard way that in this town, goodness is relative. But Grace has a secret and it is a dangerous one. Dogville may regret it ever began to bare its teeth...

Be sure the visit the Dogville Official website.

Tilbud på ståltrawler med fuldt shelterdæk

Denne her er sgu skæg!

Kulturchok!

Bagefter spillede Peter Laugesen & Singvogel.
